Gabriela Hearst was inspired by the 80s when conceptualizing the “Walkwoman”, an ode to the classic Sony walkman which debuted in 1983. The Walkwoman was mechanically constructed by two teams of craftsmen in Italy: the jewelers crafted the body using metal and stones - howlite, malachite, lapis lazuli, and agate - while handbag craftsmen produced the interchangeable cases and straps in nappa leather and crocodile.
