The Vara Dress was inspired by Gabriela's exploration of the Three Americas this season. The many layers are reminiscent of the ancient Mayan women, who wrapped themselves and their children in multiple layers of textured fabrics to stay warm. Each stitch adds a different texture and weight and offer multiple ways of wearing the dress. The fringe on the hip was knit from the same yarn as the body, giving dramatic appeal and movement.
